England have been playing with a new ‘Bazball’ approach in Test Cricket format. The Brendon McCullumBen Stokes era has begun and the results, so far, have come in their favour. They defeated New Zealand and India and were brilliant while chasing down scores.

South African skipper Dean Elgar, however, is skeptical of England’s ‘Bazball’ approach. The skipper has said that the approach might leave England having egg on their faces. He reckons that the approach lacks ‘longevity’ and cannot sustain over a long period of time.

England are all set to lock horns with South Africa for a three-match Test series. In an interview with Wisden Cricket Monthly, Elgar said that the ‘Bazball’ approach is unsustainable.

“The new England style is quite interesting. But I don't see that there's longevity in brave cricket because I see things evening out over time in Test cricket,” the skipper said.

Dean Elgar added that New Zealand failed to utilize the chances midway and had to lose because of it. He added that if they had used the chances, the results could have been different.

“There was often parity between England and New Zealand and had New Zealand taken their opportunities, and their catches, then things could have been very different. England would have come away with egg on their faces,” the South African further added.

'We've got our own brand that has been successful for us'- Aiden Markram

South African star batter, Aiden Markram, has said that his team won’t try to replicate England’s 'Bazball' approach. He added that South Africa have its own approach and have been successful so far.

“We've got our own brand that has been successful for us and we've got to back that. I don't see our team falling into a trap of playing the same way that they play. We've had chats about not falling into that trap, backing the way that we play, especially with bat in hand. We'll keep training our game plans and hopefully it works well,” Markram was quoted as saying.
