South African star, Tristan Stubbs has been the talk of the town for his performances for a while now. However, the player has hit the headlines now for one more reason that he’ll remember forever in his lifetime. The SA20 auction took place on Monday (September 19).

The youngster turned out to be the star of the night as Sunrisers East Cape bagged him for a whopping R 9.2 million (INR 4.1 crore). Since then, he has been making headlines all over the social media. Amid heavy competition with MI Cape Town, the Sunrisers did a decent job to buy Tristan Stubbs.

The youngster opined that he was still shaking and could not believe his eyes after Sunrisers East Cape bought him for such a big amount. The 22-year-old further expressed his excitement to be a part of the inaugural tournament. Tristan Stubbs also said that he was forced to watch the SA20 auction war.

I am still shaking: Tristan Stubbs

“It is crazy! I am still shaking. It is just awesome to be a part of this tournament. I would have loved to play for anyone, so just being a part of it is quite awesome. I didn’t want to watch it, but I was forced to watch it,” Stubbs said of the bidding war at the SA20 auction. There is nothing better than playing in front of a full crowd, and hopefully we can put on a spectacle for everyone and the crowds will pull in. I am open to whatever the team needs” IOL quoted Tristan Stubbs as saying.

Simon Katich, the coach of the MI Cape Town team said that he was disappointed after missing out on the player. The coach said that Tristan Stubbs was more like his son and revealed their rapport.

“I have two sons at home, and I also feel like I have a third son here in South Africa in Tristan that’s how much we enjoyed working together at The Hundred. But we knew other teams had a bigger budget. He is obviously with Mumbai in the Indian T20 League already, so there is that connection already. He is a special talent that’s why we went so hard for him,” Katich said while addressing the media.
