India is gearing up for their first encounter in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 against Pakistan on October 23. Ahead of the showpiece event, Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav opened up on his experience of the first net practice session and the weather in Australia to Cricket’s governing body.

In an interaction with Cricket’s governing body, Yadav said that he enjoyed the weather in Australia and compared it to India. The Indian star batter also emphasised taking it slow and opined on his desire to contribute to the Men in Blue led by Rohit Sharma.

Yadav has been India’s best find in the shortest format of the game of late and the batter has been in fine nick. For the unversed, Yadav has amassed 801 runs at an average of 40.05 in 23 matches this year. Much to the consternation of the Indian fans and the team management, Yadav has been consistent with his bat in every single game.

Further, the batter said that he wanted to analyze the bounce in the wicket and added that he had butterflies in his stomach during the first practice session in Australia.

“I was really looking forward to coming here and attending the first practice session, going on the ground, having a run and seeing how it is like here. The first net session was really amazing. I just wanted to see how the pace of the wicket is, and how the bounce is, so, obviously starting a little slow,” Yadav said in an interaction with Cricket’s governing body.

“There were butterflies and excitement but at the same time, one has to acclimatise to the atmosphere and also, following my routine is very important,” said the batter further.

Yadav highlighted the larger grounds in Australia and said that he assessed them during the practice session as well. “During the practice, the bounce and pace of the wicket, including the dimensions of the ground which many have said are huge, preparing a game plan is important on how to score runs," he said.

"There are slightly cooler winds but it seems like India. During the daytime, the weather is beautiful and I am really looking forward to it,” Yadav concluded.
