The star Indian batter, Suryakumar Yadav, was awarded Player of the Match for his performance in the third T20I against the West Indies. Surya was the hero of the game with his 83 (44) along with Tilak Varma’s 49* (37) in chasing a 160-run target. After the game, Yadav talked to the media and answered the question about his ODI form. He admitted that his numbers are not good in the 50-over format, and he finds no accusation in admitting the fact.
Whereas in the game, the Indian side lost their openers cheaply within five overs. The deputy skipper of the Indian team was in attack mode, and it was a vintage performance from the explosive batter. Surya and Tilak together added close to 90 runs and helped the Men in Blue clinch victory in the third T20I by seven wickets with 13 balls remaining.
We all talk about honesty, and you have to be but how you can improve is more important: Suryakumar Yadav
“To be very honest, my one-day numbers are absolutely bad and there's no shame in admitting that," Suryakumar Yadav said in the post-match conference.
"We all talk about honesty and you have to be, but how you can improve is more important. Rohit (Sharma) and Rahul (Dravid) sir have told me that this is the format that I do not play much so you have to play it more and think about it. If you are batting in the last 10-15 overs, think about what you can do for the team. It is in my hand now how to change the responsibility into an opportunity," he further added.
Surya had a good start to his 50-over format career, in his initial six innings, he scored 261 runs with two half-centuries, but now, with the last 18 innings, he has scored 250 runs at an average of 14.70. Whereas his last 50 came in February 2022 in ODIs, his latest record also includes his consecutive three Golden Ducks in the Australian series in ODIs. Now, the Hardik Pandya-led side will take on the West Indies for the fourth T20I at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill on August 12.
Here is how fans react as Suryakumar Yadav makes blunt confession about his ODI Records:

Everyone defends their stats when asked but he has the guts to accept it in media. Accepting failure is first path to success

There are better players for odi no need to forcefully ready a player who's clearly not meant for this format 👎
