The Indian cricket board is taking all steps possible to work on fitness and get things sorted ahead of the much-awaited 50-over World Cup set to take place at home later this year. For the unversed, India faced several injury scares during the 20-20 World Cup 2022 and eventually lost to England in the semi-finals of the tournament.

On January 29, Sunday reports emerged from the Telegraph claiming that the board might hold talks with the franchises to manage workload keeping in mind the multinational tournament in the offing. Cricket Academy at Bangalore, known as the rehabilitation centre, is reported to hold talks and clarify workload management.

As far as the Indian T20 League is concerned, there were several incidents in the past when players took on the field and injured themselves ahead of a much-awaited competition. Given that the 50-year World Cup would be a highly-competitive one, the Indian cricket board is ticking all boxes to ensure players’ fitness.

Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja - a cause of concern?

While Ravindra Jadeja made a return to competitive cricket during the Ranji game against Tamil Nadu, Bumrah, on the other hand, is yet to hit the nets and take on the field. To the delight of the Indian fans, Bumrah was added to India’s squad for the series against Sri Lanka only to be pulled out later on. The right-arm pacer’s return in the tournament might come either as a boon or a curse for the team as the player is not at his best yet.

The Indian T20 League’s franchises, on the other hand, more or less have been sceptical of revealing their players’ fitness reports although it is said that they do give an update on the same. With the Indian cricket board taking harsh decisions ahead of the upcoming showpiece event, it remains to be seen if the players getting selected remain fit until the end of the contest.

Here’s how fans have reacted to reports about the Indian cricket board having talks with Indian T20 League franchises:
