India overcame Japan in a one-sided contest in the final of the Asian Champions Trophy to win the title. India had a dominating game against Japan, as they scored four goals and concede no goal for Japan in the match. It was just the second instance of the Indian women's team winning the title. India had lifted the trophy in 2016. The second title win has come after 7 years.
In the first half of the match, both teams looked off-colour. Both the teams lacked control and played badly. In the first quarter of the match, no goal was scored by either team. But after getting settled, the Indian team launched the attack against Japan. The first goal of the match was scored by Sangeeta Kumari, thanks to a great ball from Neha Goyal.
It gave the much needed for the Indian team in the match. After that, three other players scored goals for India. Neha herself scored one. In the second half, the Indian defence was very good, as they captured the goalpost well. On the other hand, the forwards did their job and scored goals for fun. India did not let Japan to score goals from penalty corners.
Improvement after loss in Asian Games 2023
As the likes of Lalremsiami and Vandana Katariya scored goals, India ensured a huge win over Japan. In the end, it turned out to be a one-sided result towards the favour of India. After failing to clinch the gold medal in the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, the Indian team has come back well to clinch a trophy that they truly deserved to win.
In the Asian Games 2023, India faced an unlikely upset from China. The hosts beat India in the semifinal and denied them the gold medal. the play from India was very bad and it affected their mental being. But without looking into the results of the past, the Indian team achieved the feat of clinching the title, which is as good as the gold medal in the Asian Games.
