'His run has been a walk' - WWE fans slam 5-time Champion Johnny Gargano for poor run on Monday Night RAW

WWE legend Triple H marked one year as the company's chief content officer after Vince McMahon announced a shock retirement from the role last July. Since then the game has seen quite a few changes, some have been well-received and others haven't gone down as expected.

Triple H had a huge task to book WWE Superstars across all brands, but some top stars failed to make the mark under him and fans expressed their disappointment. He gave several wrestlers another crack with WWE and rehired them for a run on the main squad.

Among the superstars, one of the prominent stars that fans have pointed out was Johnny Gargano, who had a poor run on the main roster. The American returned to WWE and joined Monday Night Raw. However, following his return to the main roster in August 2022, he has had a dismal run, leading fans to criticise the Hunter.

Johnny Gargano was the first-ever NXT Triple Crown winner 

A major reason why the former NXT champion's run has been impressive is that he's been away from weekly television for months due to injury. Gargano was a beast in NXT, where he became the first-ever Triple Crown winner. Nicknamed "The Heart and Soul of NXT", Gargano has won the NXT Championship once, the NXT North American Championship for a record three times, and the NXT Tag Team Championship once.

DIY, comprised of Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, won the NXT Tag Team Championship in 2016. Gargano won the NXT Championship in 2019, but dropped it to Adam Cole less than two months later. However, Triple H, who was the creative head of the show, retained Gargano on NXT and he did not disappoint. In his final run with the brand, Rebel Heart won the North American Championship on two more occasions.

The Hunter also allowed Gargano to have a small feud with Grayson Waller at NXT Stand & Deliver 2023 before WrestleMania 39. It will be interesting to see how WEE uses the five-time champion on the main roster in the future.

Pretty disappointing. I think even Triple H realized Vince might have been right about a few of those guys. Some of them just don't connect with a WWE audience. It's more about the audience than the performer though.
