One of the most successful captains in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, Rohit Sharma recently completed his 10-year tenure as the captain of the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise. He has led the team to five IPL titles, making the Mumbai-based franchise dominant in the cash-rich league.

Meanwhile, an image of Rohit doing a photoshoot with the IPL trophies at MI's home ground Wankhede Stadium has gone viral on social media. Rohit and Co will face Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the same venue on Sunday, April 30, and it will be a special day for the MI skipper as he turns 36.

The franchise announced on Saturday that the MI vs RR match will be dedicated to this decade of Rohit Sharma's captaincy by posting a photo of Rohit posing with five IPL trophies on their Twitter account.

"10 years of Ro’s Skipper era, 10 years of believing in miracles. Paltan, #MIvRR will be dedicated to this decade of
@ImRo45’s captaincy. See you at Wankhede on April 30," the franchise posted in Twitter.

While commemorating the 10th anniversary of Rohit's captaincy, MI may also celebrate their opening batter's birthday at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. The venue recently hosted a cake-cutting celebration for legendary cricketer and MI mentor Sachin Tendulkar’s 50th birthday.

Another surprise awaits Rohit from his Hyderabad fans, who plan to unveil a massive 60ft cut-out of their favourite player, which they claim is the biggest ever cut-out of a cricketer. The cut-out will be placed at RTC X Roads in Hyderabad on April 30.

MI need to get back to winning ways

MI haven’t had a great campaign so far in the 2023 IPL as they have lost four out of seven matches and are eighth in the points table. Rohit has also struggled to score runs consistently for his team and that has impacted them to get off to a good start. He fails to capitalise on his strong start, and as a result, he has only one half-century this season.

After losing their first two matches, they bounced back with back-to-back wins. But they disappointed again by losing in the last matches against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Gujarat Titans (GT). The five-time champions have not had their best seasons in the last two, and they will need to pull some strings in the upcoming matches if they are to make the playoffs this time.
