Former Pakistani player Shoaib Akhtar has said in an interview that Kohli should stop playing T-20 and ODI after the ODI world cup 2023, which is happening in India, instead, he should be focusing on breaking 100 centuries record of Sachin, which to this Sourav Ganguly has given a mouth shut reply to Shoaib Akhtar and backed Virat Kohli.

“I don't think he should play more 50-over matches after this World Cup. Also, if you see him in T20, it takes a lot of him. I think he should play for at least six more years and break the Sachin Tendulkar record of 100 centuries. Kohli has it in him to break the record. He should focus on Test cricket after the World Cup and break this Record.” Akhtar said about Kohli’s future on Rev Sportz.

But Ganguly has given a mouth-shutting reply to the Pakistani former player and has backed the former Indian Captain to continue playing in all three formats for a longer time.

While Ganguly was asked about Shoaib Akhtar’s view on Virat Kohli, he said, “Why shouldn't Kohli, he will play whatever he wants because he is performing better at all the stages and all formats of the game.

Ganguly opts for Tilak Verma to No 4 spot for World Cup 2023

Adding to this he said, Kohli has been a Pioneer in Indian batting for the past 15 years, and he is been delivering consistently what the team needs, through all three formats of the game, and he has the ability to score in any condition and any format of the game, I believe he still has 5 to 6 years of game and I hope he will continue delivering the same, he added.

While he was asked about the Indian World Cup squad, in which the No 4 position’s hot topic is going on he preferred Thilak Varma if Shreyas is not fit to play, and he also mentioned this time though India has a very strong and stable team have all chances of winning the world cup.
