Pakistan cricket is going through a turbulent time. In 2022 itself, they lost the Asia Cup 2022 Final as well as the 20-20 World Cup Final. Adding to their misery they also invited the England Test team after a gap of 17 years and got whitewashed 0-3 at home.
To top it off, there is an ongoing tussle between former Chairman Ramiz Raja and the entirety of the Pakistan Cricket Board. Raja has been coming up with public attacks on the board as well as the current chairman Najam Sethi for the ‘dubious’ selection process and Raja’s mistreatment.
He has called Sethi, incompetent and many names on his YouTube channel as well as in his other interviews. In fresh new attacks, Raja has now targeted former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi who now works as the interim chief selector of the Pakistan team.
"In my opinion he shouldn't work in such environment. I can only suggest this," Ramiz told Capital TV. When asked to elaborate, Ramiz added: “If I have to join any institution, I'll do a bit of research. Who is the boss, who are his subordinates, will I be comfortable or not, will I get any reward, why do I want to work, what is the purpose?”
Najam Sethi wants limelight at any cost- Ramiz Raja
Earlier, Ramiz Raja had called out Sethi’s comeback as chairman as just a PR stunt.
“It has been made out as if a messiah (Sethi) has come, who will take the game to new heights. We know what he is up to. He wants limelight at any cost. He has nothing to do with cricket, and has never lifted a bat. They have changed me midway. In the middle of the season they are bringing Micky Arthur. Saqlain Mushtaq's tenure was ending anyway in January. Saqlain has played over 50 (49) Tests, he is a legend. This is no way to treat the cricketers,” Raja had claimed earlier.
