Right after Ramiz Raja was shown the door by the Pakistan Cricket Board and was sacked as chief. Following his removal, Raja ranted about how and why he was sacked as PCB Chief in a sudden decision. The Board had overhauled the constitution which led to Raja’s removal.
Salman Butt was miffed with Raja’s tomfoolery after the transfer of power took place. He said that Raja should feel happy that he was not removed straight away but he had no right to react in the manner that he did. Several former Pakistan players felt a sense of comfort when Raja vacated the seat of power.
“Ramiz Raja was lucky that the new government allowed him to work for several months after coming to power," Butt said. “Not only did they not remove him straight away, but they also supported him. “People have been sacked before too, but nobody has ever reacted this way after being removed. It’s like someone has snatched a toy from a kid’s hand. He should not be making such statements and needs to show some grace. He should consider doing commentary now," Butt added.
He also went on to say that some of the things that were said by Raja in the public domain were not in the right spirit and such comments marred the reputation of Pakistan cricket. He also said that he did not look into Pakistan Cricket at the lower levels but had done some notable contributions to Pakistan cricket.
“The team’s recent performances and the comments made by Ramiz Raja have damaged Pakistani cricket. He should accept it gracefully. There needs to be peace. How long are we going to keep fighting amongst ourselves?, “Ramiz has done a lot of good things during his tenure, and we must thank him for that. However, while he increased the salaries of the players, he didn’t do enough at the grassroots level," he added.
