The Indian Team last played a two-match Test series against Bangladesh. They whitewashed the Bangla Tigers 2-0 at home. In the Test series and in the ODI series before that Team India were plagued by injuries. Mohammed Shami did not play on the tour due to a shoulder injury. Notably, Shami replaced Bumrah in the 20-20 World Cup. Bumrah was out of the 20-20 World Cup due to a back injury.

Jasprit Bumrah also missed a series against Bangladesh because of a back injury that he sustained before the 20-20 World Cup. Bumrah had put out videos of himself a while back bowling with a full runup, with the caption “full throttle” This could be a sign that Bumrah has recovered. This is an ominous sign ahead of the Australia Test series for India.

Speaking about the two fast bowlers, This is what Dinesh Karthik had to say, "For Shami, it’s a big question, because he is somebody who is probably not as professional as Bumrah when it comes to training. He has had an injury and he’s been injury-struck for some time,” He said on Cricbuzz.

The players need to be fit - Dinesh Karthik

India have been having to deal with a spate of injuries in recent times. Deepak Chahar had a back injury yet again, Rohit Sharma suffered a thumb injury, Kuldeep Sen was unfit to play and the list went on. The Lead players getting injured for India is not good news as it affects the team combination.

“The whole Indian backups have been injured over a period of time for some strange reason. The Indian team and NCA need to align themselves towards how they are going to plan in making sure the players stay fit over a period of time,” He added.

India have been on a losing spree in the limited overs format since their shock exit at the 20-20 World Cup in Australia. They lost the three-match ODI series against New Zealand 1-0 and also the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh 2-1. They somehow huffed and puffed to turn the Test match around against Bangladesh at Dhaka.
