'He is doing nothing...' - Chetan Sharma opens up on Prithvi Shaw's snub from national squad

Chief selector Chetan Sharma explained on Prithvi Shaw's snub from the squad and said that the youngster will get a call-up soon.

Ever since India announced the squad for the upcoming series against New Zealand and Bangladesh, people have been questioning the selectors for snubbing Prithvi Shaw from the team. However, The Men in Blue's chief selector, Chetan Sharma, opened up on the issue and assured fans of selecting the youngster at the earliest.

Explaining the thoughts behind the selection, Chetan said that the selectors are in constant touch with the youngster. Clearing the air off the youngster saying that he did nothing wrong, the chief selector said that the committee is looking to give equal opportunities to all youngsters.

“We are basically looking for Prithvi (Shaw). We are in constant touch with Prithvi. He is going well. He is doing nothing wrong at all. The thing is that we have to see whether the guys who are playing are also getting their chances. He will definitely get his chance. Selectors are in constant touch with Prithvi. He will get his chances very soon,” Chetan was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

India bring in more new faces

Yash Dayal made it to the ODI squad for the Bangladesh series on the back of his impressive domestic outings. Kuldeep Sen and Umran Malik got their call-up again for the ODI series against New Zealand while the latter retained his spot for the T20I series as well.

While Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli will make a return for the Test and ODI series against Bangladesh, Shikhar Dhawan will lead the ODI squad against New Zealand and Hardik Pandya, the star allrounder will wear the captaincy hat for the T2OIs against the Kiwis.

In other news, the Indian team led by Rohit are in Adelaide to take on Shakib Al Hasan’s Bangladesh on November 2, Wednesday. It is a must-win game for India as they lost to South Africa in the previous encounter on Sunday. The Men in Blue will leave no stone unturned to clinch a victory against the Bangla Tigers who are coming off a dramatic win against Zimbabwe.
