England and Australia locked horns in a three-match ODI series. The first of the three ODIs is being played at the Adelaide Oval. Australia won the toss and opted to bowl. Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins were on target straightway as they bowled disciplined lengths and lines to keep the England batters in check.

Philip Salt was the first to go as he was dismissed by Pat Cummins and then again in the fourth over Mitchell Starc produced a peach of a delivery to get rid of Jason Roy. It came back in sharply and Roy did not know whether to play forward or back and was bowled.

Dawid Malan came in at number three, He was at ease and started off on a good note, he hit boundaries at the start to transfer the pressure back on Australia and it looked like he was batting on a different wicket altogether, While the other batters struggled to score runs, he held the fort and took control of the innings. He played like a one-man warrior who was waging a lone battle against the Kangaroos.

He treated the bowlers with disdain and played a range of eye-catching strokes throughout the course of his innings, He played a valiant knock of off 134 off 128 balls with 12 fours and four sixes. The left-handed batter has been one of the revolutionaries in the T20 format for England and has also been one of the finds in white ball cricket for England.

He has scored 424 runs in 10 ODIs that he has played with the highest score of 125 at an average of 70.66 and a strike rate of 93.80.Β  He has two hundreds and two fifties to his name. He has been a part of England’s white-ball revolution that took place after the 2015 World Cup which was held in Australia. In the 20-20 World Cup, which was recently concluded in Australia, he did not have a tournament that was of note as he scored only 56 runs in four matches.
