“He allowed me to express myself and enjoy the game,” Brevis extended his gratitude to Rohit Sharma

The 19-year-old young and talented South African batter Dewald Brevis has impressed everyone with his stellar performances since his first appearance for the South African Under-19 team. He has played some amazing knocks for the Proteas during the U-19 world cup.

Add to that, he also left his footmarks in the Indian T20 League 2022 with his batting excellence while playing for Mumbai. Recently, Brevis has talked about his experience with Mumbai franchise under the leadership of Rohit Sharma.

In an interview, he extended his thanks to Rohit for his constant support during the 15^th edition of the Indian T20 League 2022.

“Rohit Sharma backed and supported me a lot - he allowed me to express myself and enjoy the game - I couldn't have asked for a better captain. He has got lots of knowledge and lot to learn from him - he is a great leader,” Brevis was quoted as saying to NDTV.

Brevis scored 161 runs in 7 matches for Mumbai with an average of 23 and a highest score of 49 runs. He made headlines for his excellent batting skills and his ability to score in every region of the ground. Some cricket fans and experts compared his batting skills with the former South African skipper and batting legend AB De Villiers.

Brevis was introduced in the mega auction of IPL 2022 at a base price of INR 20 lakhs. Later in the mega auction, Mumbai franchise bought him at an amount of INR 3 crores after going through a bidding war with the Chennai and Punjab.

There are also the probabilities that Mumbai might choose to retain him for the next season of the cash-rich league.
