In the LPL 2023, Wanindu Hasaranga played at the top of his game and displayed exquisite skills. Hasaranga also serves as the league's team captain for the B-Love Kandy club, and he is doing a fantastic job since the squad now leads the standings with eight points after six games.
Not only that, the star Sri Lanka all-rounder led the team well but also has been expectational with ball and bat. In the current season so far, the skipper has picked up eight wickets and also scored 153 runs with the bat in hand. There is no doubt that Hasaranga has led the team from the front and also chipped in when the side has needed him to be it with the ball or be it with the bat.
B-Love Kandy go top of the table
Jaffna Kings and B-Love Kandy squared off in game 15 of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023 on August 12 at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. Jaffna had just defeated Colombo Strikers by six wickets in their previous match.
In contrast, B-Love Kandy won their final game in the ongoing competition by a massive 89 runs over Galle Titans. With six points going into the game, the team led by Wanindu Hasaranga was at the top of the standings. In this match also, things were no different as the Hasaranga won the toss and decided to bat first against the three-time LPL Champions.
Batting first, the B-Love Kandy team made a par score of 178 runs on the back of brilliant innings of 81 runs from Mohammad Haris and useful contributions from skipper Hasaranga (19), Angelo Mathews (22), and Fakhar Zaman (22). In reply, Jaffna Kings did not have an ideal start as the defending champions were restricted to 16/3 at one stage courtesy of a brilliant bowling spell from Mathews, who kept things real tight.
Despite the skipper Hasaranga not having the finest of games as per his standards, his side was able to register a victory by eight runs. The death bowling for B-Love was expectational with the likes of Nuwan Pradeep and Dushmantha Chameera at the death.
