Harmanpreet Kaur is the current captain of the Indian Women’s cricket team. She has wowed everyone with her stroke play and recently created history in England by beating them 3-0 in an ODI series on English soil after a long time. In the ODI format, she has scored 3,322 runs at an average of 38.18 in 12 years. She has also picked up 31 wickets in ODIs.
Kaur has the highest score of 171 in the format which came in the 2017 ODI World Cup semifinal against Australia. She has well-known for her big-hitting and her firebrand captaincy. She has led India to new heights over the last three years or so.

Kaur recently gave an interview in Kolkata for the showstopper at the Blenders Pride Glassware Fashion Tour to News 18. When she was asked a question about the upcoming Women’s Indian T20 League and how it would help Indian Women’s Cricket, this is what she said - "The women’s Indian T20 League is something we are looking forward to. It will be a good experience, especially for the domestic players who are good but were not getting the chance to play at the international level."
"This is a great platform for them and if they perform well, they will definitely get picked for the national side. They are also going to share the dressing room with overseas players and when you play with them, your competence goes high as well. You’re definitely going to learn great things from them. That’s what happened to me when I played the WBBL and The Hundred. I learned a lot from them, shared my thoughts, and got ideas from them as well," explained the India skipper.
In what will be a first in Indian cricket, a women’s Indian T20 League is slated to be launched in March 2023. There will be a total of 22 matches played. About the squad composition, there will be a maximum of 18 players with 6 of them being overseas. In the playing XI, there should be only five overseas players, It will be held in two venues and also will likely be a five-team event.
When she was questioned on the future of women's cricket, she said that Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami were the torchbearers for Indian Women's cricket and that their legacy will be carried on by the current players in the women's team. She lauded both of them for their efforts and contributions and said that they will be forever remembered in Indian cricket. Kaur also talked about how the team felt happy about giving Goswami a special farewell in her last ODI series where India beat England 3-0.
