‘Hard to accept…’ - KL Rahul’s emotional post after his injury set-back before the South Africa series

KL Rahul was named the captain of Team India as the team is going to host South Africa in five-match T20I series at home, starting from 9 June 2022. However, India faced an early setback as KL Rahul got ruled out of the series due to an injury concern.

After being ruled out, this Indian batter penned an emotional post on his official Twitter account along with good wishes for the Team for the series. His news of getting ruled out came on the eve of the first match in Delhi. The Indian Cricket Board shared a statement, saying: "Team India Captain KL Rahul has been ruled out of the T20I series against South Africa owing to a right groin injury while Kuldeep Yadav will miss out in the T20I series after getting hit on his right hand while batting in the nets last evening,"

KL Rahul shared that he could not accept it but he lost the chance of leading the country for the first time at home. He wrote: "Hard to accept but I begin another challenge today. Gutted not to be leading the side for the first time at home, but the boys have all my support from the sidelines. Heartfelt thanks to all for your support. Wishing Rishabh and the boys all the luck for the series. See you soon,"

Speaking about the injured players, both KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav will now report to the National Cricket Academy where the medical team will assess them to decide on the future course of treatment. Still, the Indian Cricket Board have not shared any replacement for them in the squad.
