Indian selectors are in Mumbai to select the 20-20 World Cup squad. The expectations are high and amid poor performance in the Asia Cup, fans want Mohammed Shami to be back in the squad. While fans are rooting for the veteran pacer to be back in the squad, one former cricketer wants youngster Umran Malik to be in the squad.
Former Indian spinner, Harbhajan Singh has backed Umran Malik to be a part of the squad. The veteran took to Twitter to express his opinion and asked fans about the same. However, fans did not agree with his opinion as most wanted Shami back in the squad.
“Who all wants to see today Mr 150 Umran malik in the World Cup team for India ?? Can be our trump card on those bouncy pitches in Australia.. Any thoughts ?” Harbhajan Singh tweeted.
For the unversed, the 22-year-old from Jammu and Kashmir made his debut for India against Ireland on 26 June 2022 and has bagged two scalps in three T20Is so far.

Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel to return for the 20-20 World Cup 2022
Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel both missed out on the Asia Cup 2022 due to injury and underwent rehabilitation in Bangalore. With the duo returning to the 20-20 World Cup squad, the Indian bowling will look stronger than it was in the continental tournament.
It remains to be seen if the duo will play in the Australia and South Africa T20I series before boarding the flight to Australia. The chances of Deepak Chahar making it into the squad looks grim alongside Ravi Bishnoi if Mohammed Shami makes a comeback. The expectations are quite high given the team’s dismal performance in the tournament held in the UAE.
Arshdeep Singh might travel with the team and might back up Bumrah and Shami. Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel might board the flight alongside others and add strength to the bowling department. As it stands, the Indian squad is expected to be announced later in the day and one can expect a few changes in the squad.
