Virat Kohli has put in a good performance in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy's 2nd Test in Delhi. He's had good starts in each of the innings but hasn't been able to convert them into big scores. He scored 44 runs in the first innings of the match before adding 20 more in the second.

During this time, he set a major milestone by scoring 25000 runs in international cricket. Shortly after reaching the milestone, he was dismissed on the bowling of Todd Murphy for a team score of 69. This was the first instance where the former Indian skipper was stumped in Test cricket.

Kohli was hesitant against Murphy, which forced him to try something new on this occasion. Murphy kept going with the arm ball as he stepped out to smother the bowler. It skidded past the outside edge of Kohli's bat, and Carey removed the bails in a flash.

In the meantime, Kohli appeared to be poised to pose a threat to Australia in the second Test's first innings. He hit four boundaries and scored 44 runs off 84 balls. His dismissal off the bowling of debutant Matthew Kuhnemann, on the other hand, has sparked heated debate.

In the 50th over of India's batting innings, Kuhnemann bowled a straight delivery onto Virat's stumps that did not turn much. The batter was called out, but the decision was immediately reviewed. The ball appeared to have taken Kohli's bat's inside edge. However, there was no conclusive evidence as to whether the ball hit the edge or the pad directly.

The Third Umpire Nitin Menon, on the other hand, was convinced that the ball struck the pad first and ruled in favour of the bowler. According to law 36.2.2 of the MCC, “if the ball makes contact with the striker’s person and bat simultaneously, this shall be considered as the ball having first touched the bat.”
