Pakistan were on the brink of elimination from the 20-20 World Cup after having suffered back-to-back losses against India and Zimbabwe but they showed strong character as a team to get back to winning ways and make it to the final of the 20-20 World Cup 2022.

The two teams, who will play the final on Sunday, are equally matched. Pakistan’s strong suit has been their superb pace bowling department while England’s strong point has been their batting. Pakistan kept New Zealand down to just 152-4 in the semi-final 2, while England routed India by 10 wickets in the semi-final 1 to make it to the summit-clash.

Ahead of the final, the Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi took a sly dig at India saying that it will not be easy for Jos Butler and Alex Hales to score as freely against the Pakistan bowlers, who are at the top of their game at present. Afridi made the comment after India could not penetrate a 170-opening run stand made by England opener in the first semi-final.

“Har din Sunday nahi hota. Fikar na karo, Inshallah. Humare batsmen, bowler bahut acchi form mein hain. (Everyday is not Sunday. By god's grace our batsmen and bowlers are in great form)" said Afridi during an interaction on Samaa TV.

Alex Hales has been the impact player for England in the tournament, having scored 211 runs in five matches with the highest score of an unbeaten 86. He has got the runs at an average of 52.75 and a strike rate of 148.59. He also has two fifties to boot. It has been a superb England recall for Hales, who will look to maintain his form to help England win their second 20-20 World Cup title.

The two sides have already won a 20-20 World Cup title, each in 2009 and 2010 in England and in the Caribbean respectively. Both sides will be gunning for a second 20-20 World Cup title. Pakistan will also be hoping to repeat an encore of 1992 World-Cup final.
