Birmingham Phoenix faced Oval Invincibles in a crucial match, yesterday, at The Oval. Oval Invincibles, won the toss and elected to field first, on a pitch that favors pacers. Miles Hammond and Will Smeed were given the task to give a solid start for the Phoenix. The Pakistani star Mohammad Hasnain tackled the plan as he removed Will Smeed first up, restricting him to just 23.

Miles Hammond, the left-hander made the move after the fall of the first wicket and started to stockpile runs at a quick pace. He banged Sunil Narine for a six but the latter had the last laugh as he went on to pick up the wicket of Hammond. Moeen Ali, in an unusual way, was scoring runs at a low pace alongside aggressive Liam Livingstone.

However, the Phoenix skipper made up for it as he managed to bag four sixes in his entire inning before Sunil Narine deceived him. Sam Curran, after producing an economical ten-ball first spell, turned up against Liam Livingstone to bowl the death overs. Livingstone was too good for him as he managed to garner three sixes from Curran's over.

A soft power inning from Matthew Wade and boundary-less last over meant the Phoenix ended up amassing 166 runs in 100 balls. Kane Richardson provided the breakthrough for the Phoenix right away on the fourth ball of the second innings. Rilee Rossouw also failed for the Invincibles as Tom Helm trapped him for mere five runs to make things even tougher for the Green team.

Jordan Cox was the guy to end the boundary drought as he bagged a four off Benny Howell's over and this pushed things for the Invincibles. At the end of the 60th ball, the Invincibles were 82 for the loss of three wickets. A dual wicket over from Kane Richardson shattered the dreams of the Invincibles as both Sam Billings and Jordan Cox perished in two consecutive balls.
