Xbox is set to provide a ‘business update’ regarding their future next week. As per a post from the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, the update will address the ongoing controversy regarding Xbox games on multiple platforms.

While the post did not outright say that, it said, “We're listening and we hear you. We've been planning a business update event for next week, where we look forward to sharing more details with you about our vision for the future of Xbox. Stay tuned.”

This comes after many credible sources claimed that Xbox will soon bring multiple exclusives to other platforms, including PlayStation5 (PS5). This has got Xbox owners in turmoil regarding the future of the console.

A conclusion to the console wars?

While it is not clear if the news will be good or bad for Xbox fans, making games multi-platform will put an end to the long going console war. If it is something like making games multi-platform after a certain amount of time, the company will get much less heat.

Sony has also been porting PlayStation games to PC in recent years, so it is understandable that Xbox may also want to cash in on these games with more players after some time of release.

As expected, the response from Xbox fans on the news is harsh. For people who have spent hundreds of dollars on Xbox consoles and games, the idea of these games being available everywhere just does not sit well.

Xbox may also have a huge disadvantage if they outright move from exclusive titles, as fewer people will buy Xbox. Many people fear that the company may ultimately put the console to rest due to diminished sales.

The situation is already bad after the recent layoffs by Microsoft. At the moment, fans can only wait for the announcement planned for next week.
