Just six months after its release, Dave the Diver has surpassed 3 million in sales. The announcement was done on X by the creators expressing their gratitude towards all the fans.

The game is developed by Mintrocket, a subsidy for Nexon where you play as a diver named Dave who catches fish during daytime in order to run a sushi restaurant by the evening. The original concept was inspired by a real-life pub on Jeju Island where the owner is a diver, running the pub at night.

While the gameplay loop is simple, it's quite relaxing and satisfying, the game provides a unique adventure with every dive. The game provides a vast amount of unique experience to gamers with both fishing and management simulator genre.

Looking at the game art and aesthetics, one might mistake it for an indie title. Players were also wondering why the game was a contender for best indie game during the 2023 Game Awards.

Nexon usually specializes in making free-to-play games containing microtransactions, due to this, people were shocked to see a game like this released under Nexon. However, that did not stop the players from enjoying the game.

The game also did a collab update with Dredge, another popular fishing game with a horror theme. With this, Dave the Diver brought in content from other game that players were able to enjoy.

Along with regular updates to Dave the Diver, the developers at Mintrocket have also revealed their future plans. This time around, they are creating a game on horror them surrounding zombie apocalypse.

As it is well-known among gamers, 2023 was a great year to play video games. With the amount of great games coming out, a few were bound to get a lot of traction, especially those providing a different gameplay style.
