Sanju Samson had his claim to fame as an 18-year-old when he was drafted into the Rajasthan squad in the Indian T20 League. He showed everyone what he was made of when he batted at number three for the franchise.  The man was known to have all the shots and could change gears whenever possible, but it has been a hard road for the Kerala-born lad, so far, in the Indian Team.

Samson has had to endure long spells on the bench and has been given very few opportunities to represent the Men in Blue in the white ball format. He has played 16 matches in seven years and has scored 296 runs in T20Is. He has got an underwhelming average of 21.14 and has a strike rate of 135.15.

After not being selected for the New Zealand tour which consisted of three T20Is and three ODIs, he has now been snubbed again by the Indian management for the ODIs against Bangladesh. The squad for India in the ODIs against Bangladesh is as follows:

Rohit Sharma (c), KL Rahul (vc), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Shreyas Iyer, Rahul Tripathi, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Shahbaz Ahmed, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Deepak Chahar, Kuldeep Sen.

Samson did well in the few chances that were given to him. He scored runs in the series against West Indies that happened in the Caribbean in July and also scored a superb 86 in the three-match ODI series against South Africa. The 86-run knock came in the first ODI which India lost narrowly by 9 runs.

He has proved his worth time and again and has had consistent seasons with runs behind him in the Indian T20 League. He has scored 3526 runs in the greatest T20 League on planet earth. He has scored runs at an average of 29.14 and a solid strike rate of 135.71. He has three hundreds and 17 fifties in the Indian T20 League.
