India and Australia are currently locking horns with each other in Ahmedabad in the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The visitors ended Day 1 with the upper hand after Usman Khawaja scored his maiden Test century against India to take the team to 255-4.

Australia dominated with their batting performance at the Narendra Modi Stadium as the Indian bowlers failed to produce an impressive performance. Steve Smith's side resumed the second day with Khawaja (104* off 251 balls) and Cameron Green (49* off 64 balls) and the duo have taken the team to a comfortable position at 386-6 on the board after the first session.

Green was closing in on his half-century, yesterday, and the all-rounder hit his maiden Test century after playing a quality inning with Khawaja, today. Having become the sixth Australian batter to score a maiden Test 100 in India, he took off his helmet and waved to the dressing room to celebrate the milestone. The 23-year-old, who scored a magnificent century on his first tour to India, was dismissed for 114 (170) by Ravichandran Ashwin.

Ashwin brought India back into the game by striking twice in an over

Just when it looked like Australia would take the game away from India, Ashwin made a breakthrough to break the dangerous partnership between Green and Khawaja. The duo put on 208 runs to form the highest partnership in India for Australia. Ashwin picked up his third scalp in the same over by dismissing Alex Carey in 4 balls. The veteran spinner then also took the wicket of Mitchell Starc (6 off 20 balls).

India are now looking to tighten the screws as they want to wrap things up soon to get back into contention. But the dangerous Khawaja remains at the crease with 172* off 403 balls and looks set to register his maiden double century.

The 36-year-old has been exceptional form in this series, so far, becoming the first Aussie player to register a triple-digit mark. Khawaja, who scored 496 runs in three Tests in Pakistan in 2022, has been in good form for the team, since his return. He averaged 45.67 in two Tests against Sri Lanka, last year, and is now the highest run-scorer for Australia in India in 2023.

Meanwhile, here's how fans reacted to Cameron Green's maiden Test century:
