In a nail-biting match, Quetta Gladiators beat Peshawar Zalmi by three runs to win the Pakistan Super League exhibition match on Sunday. While chasing 185 runs, Gladiators restricted Zalmi at 181/7 in 20 overs. This match proved to be one of the most eventful games in recent years. From alleged bomb scare to heated arguments, it had everything to be in the headlines.
Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Khan allegedly abused his teammates during the match. It all happened during the second innings of the match when Zalmi’s were hammering Gladiators in the run chase. In just 3.4 overs, Peshawar had rumbled to 40-0, and Sarfaraz was clearly agitated with the situation. When Mohammad Haris hit Aimal Khan for a boundary in the fourth over Sarfaraz can be overheard loudly insulting his teammate in the background.

This is not the first time when Sarfaraz has cursed or abused his teammates during a match. Former cricketers and cricket fans have previously criticized Sarfaraz for his heated outbursts toward his own players during a game. However, this exhibition match witnessed a brilliant batting effort from Iftikhar Ahmed, who smashed six sixes in an over of former Pakistan bowler Wahab Riaz. Wahab is currently the sports minister of Pakistan.
Sarfaraz Ahmed made an explosive comeback on the national side
In December 2022 former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed made comeback in the Test team against New Zealand in the home series. Sarfaraz was preferred by the team over Mohammed Rizwan who is struggling with form in recent times. 35-year-old wicketkeeper-batter grabbed the opportunity with both hands and scored 335 runs at an average of 83.75 in two Tests. Sarfaraz emerged as Player of the Series and made a roaring comeback on the national side.
However, Sarfaraz will be leading Quetta Gladiators for the eighth consecutive season of the Pakistan Super League. PSL is set to start on February 13, defending champion Lahore Qalandars will face off against last year's runners-up Multan Sultans in the opening game.
