Yuvraj Singh has had a very distinguished career as an India cricketer. He has amazed the world with his stroke play. He has been a two-time World Cup winner for India in 2007 and 2011. The Southpaw from Punjab was a big part of the Indian middle order in the 2000’s where he played some magical innings with his bat.
Meanwhile, disaster has struck Yuvraj's door as the former India cricketer was pulled up by the tourism department of Goa. He was slapped with a notice for apparently failing to register his villa with the department in Morjim. He now has let out the same property as a home stay online and has been summoned to appear before the concerned authority for hearing on December 8.
The proceedings have been started off by the tourism department under the registration of tourist trade act as he did not register the villa with the department. It is located in Varchawada Morjim. The notice was addressed to the villa which is owned by him. The villa is named ‘Casa Singh’. which is based in North Goa.
The notice was handed out by Deputy Director of tourism Rajesh Kale, here is what the notice stated."It has come to the notice of the undersigned that your residential premises located at Varchawada, Morjim, Pernem, Goa is allegedly functioning as a homestay and is being marketed on online platforms like Airbnb."
He did not register the villa to the prescribed authority
The department of tourism also put out a tweet which indicated that the former cricketer would be hosting an exclusive stay at the house in Goa. "I will be hosting an exclusive stay at my Goa home for a group of 6, only on @Airbnb. This is where I spend time with my loved ones and the home is filled with memories from my years on the pitch," Singh had said in a tweet.
The tourism department broached on the topic further and said that, "every person intending to operate a Hotel/Guest House before operating it, has to apply for registration to the Prescribed Authority in the Prescribed manner."
"Therefore, notice is hereby given to you as to why penal action should not be initiated against you for default in registration under the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade Act, 1982," the notice explained. "Further, you are directed to appear before the undersigned on 08.12.2022 at 11:00 am. in the chamber of the Prescribed Authority for a personal hearing, to defend your interest," the notice added.
The notice further indicated that if no reply is given by the said date December 8. Then it will be put down as an act of violation and that a fine of One Lakh could be levied.
