Almost every player from the current Indian team shares a special bond with former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni, and the giant Virat Kohli is no exception. Having made his debut during the Dhoni era, Kohli has always been appreciative of the former captain, be it cricket or personal life.

In a special interview with Cricket’s governing body review show ahead of India’s clash with Pakistan on October 23, Sunday, Kohli said that he still cherishes his early days with the 41-year-old. Further, the right-handed batter said in the show that the transition in the Indian leadership was quite normal contrary to the outside world.

“The transition between two captains for the outside world, it was like ‘Woah, we’ve never seen this happen before’ and all that, but for us, it was quite normal. It was never even occurring to us that he was the captain or I am the captain now. For me, he was always the same guy,” Kohli said in the World Body’s review show.

The Indian star batter further added that Dhoni gave inputs to him despite handing him over the captaincy. Kohli said that he always looked up to him and added that his qualities remained the same even though days passed by.

“I always looked at him the same way, it’s just that I had the decision-making responsibilities after a certain point, but his input was always valuable for me,” said the right-hand batter further in the show. The bond is evergreen and Kohli has been proving it over and over.

During the Asia Cup in September, Kohli opened up on his Test captaincy exit and said that Dhoni was the only player to wish him well then. “When I left Test captaincy I got message only from MS Dhoni and nobody else. Lot of people have my number but only he had called. There are some connections with are genuine and it has some security. If you want to give me suggestions, give me one-on-one,” said the Indian veteran in one of the press conferences.
