France superstar footballer, Kylian Mbapper is set to leave the Paris Saint Germain club at the end of the season. According to reports, he is in talks with the club and the official announcement of the news will be made in a few months. He joined the club in the year 2017 and in 2022 only extended his contract with PSG till 2024 but last year he refused to activate the clause that would extend his contract with the club for one more year.
According to credible sources, Mbappe could feature for Real Madrid in the future as he is already in talks with the iconic Spanish club. While it is a great setback for PSG as Mbappe has been one of their marquee players, especially after the exit of Lionel Messi and Neymar the club has decided to focus on the future and the official announcement will be made in a few months.
Mbappe is set to depart from PSG without any transfer fee, but the impact on the club will be alleviated by a prior agreement made last summer. This agreement entails the player forgoing bonuses worth approximately 60 to 70 million euros ($65.6 million to $76.6 million).
Mbappe’s new journey
Kylian Mbappe has spent 7 years at PSG and meanwhile has been their top goal scorer with 274 goals but the childhood wish of Mbappe to play for Real Madrid led to this decision. Real Madrid has also been keen to have Mbappe onboard since 2019 only to be rebuffed every time but they have almost managed to pull it off.
However, till the deal with Real Madrid is not yet officially confirmed, Mbappe will continue to remain a free agent. However, he gave a hint of potential separation in January when in an interview on French Television he said, “I haven't made my decision, I haven't made my choice. But we have an agreement with the president (Nasser Al-Khelaifi) which means that all parties are protected.”
The 25-year-old receives an annual salary of approximately $215 million, and amid ongoing discussions, Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid has shown the greatest interest in acquiring the PSG star. Numerous reports indicate that Mbappe is willing to accept a reduced salary to join the reigning European champions.
