‘Eternal Rivalry’- Fans react as Gerard Pique’s former teammate poses with his ex-partner Shakira after handing her two awards

Spanish center-back Sergio Ramos was seen getting clicked with the popular Colombian singer Shakira at the Latin Grammy Awards held in Seville. The picture is making rounds on the social media as Sergio Ramos and Shakira’s ex-boyfriend Gerard Pique were teammates for Spain and had a formidable defensive partnership. 

Shakira and Gerard Pique were together for 11 years and have two children. The duo decided to split last year and Pique moved on with Clara Chia Marti. Shakira won three awards at the Latin Grammy Awards and two of them were presented to her by Sergio Ramos for ‘Best Pop Song’ and ‘Best Urban Interpretation’.

Ironically, the Best Pop Song prize came for a tune that has been dubbed a 'diss track' towards Pique, called 'Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions'. Despite being international teammates both Sergio Ramos and Gerard Pique share a fierce rivalry at club level while playing for Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively during the Pep Guardiola-Jose Mourinho Era.

Pique and Ramos’s bitter-sweet relationship

Despite their off-field differences, the duo of Pique and Ramos formed a formidable center-back partnership for the Spanish national team, achieving remarkable success on the international stage. Together, they played a pivotal role in Spain's historic victories at 2010 World Cup and 2012 European Championship, playing as key defensive anchors.

Sergio Ramos is back playing for his boyhood club Seville after leaving the grandeur of PSG. The 37-year-old, bid farewell to international duty with Spain earlier this year, and will resume his pursuit of glory on November 26th, facing Real Sociedad in a highly anticipated La Liga clash.

Shakira, relocated to Miami from Barcelona following her separation from Piqué, expressed her gratitude to her fans for their unwavering support while taking a subtle jab at Piqué.

She said, "I want to share this (accolades) with my Spanish audience as well," she declared. "Throughout the highs and lows, including the difficult times, you've been there for me."
