'First on my list is Dewald Brevis'- AB de Villiers expects big things from South African youngster in upcoming SA20

AB de Villiers is one of the modern greats in cricket. He is hailed by many as the finest cricketer T20I has ever seen. This is why it is often intriguing as to who the former South African batter thinks would take his baton forward.

Currently, De Villiers is looking forward to making his debut as a commentator in the inaugural SA20 league. He has claimed that the upcoming league has come at a great time for South African cricket.

“I think the SA20 comes at a really good time for South African cricket. And we have seen the amazing things that these leagues have done to cricket and in particular, nations to give our youngsters the base and the foundation to get exposure at the highest level against the best players in the world is what’s it all about,” de Villiers said.

The former Protea batter also picked youngster Dewald Brewis to be one to watch out for in the upcoming league. Brewis has been known as ‘Baby AB’ for his resemblance for the former player and his batting style.

“I think there’s a lot of young players that have come through in the last few years and I think of the very first up in my list Dewald Brevis. I’m looking forward to watch him play and few other youngsters that have performed really well, “ AB de Villiers added.

Brevis has seen a meteoric rise to international cricket after his sensational performance in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup wherein he scored 506 runs in just 6 matches. He was also signed by the Mumbai franchise of the Indian T20 League on the back of his incredible performances in domestic as well as international matches.
