The T20 World Cup has been a massive success in cricket since its introduction in 2007. The success of the tournament in 2007 led to the beginning of the Indian Premier League in 2008, which is yet another huge success story. Since then, there has been a T20 World Cup for almost every second year, barring the period from 2016 to 2021, when there was no T20 World Cup.

So far, there have been eight T20 World Cups from 2007 to 2022. The first edition of the tournament happened in South Africa in 2007. The second and third editions happened in back-to-back years. England hosted the tournament in 2009, and West Indies hosted it in 2010. The 2012 edition was hosted by Sri Lanka and Bangladesh got the chance of hosting it in 2014. India hosted its maiden T20 World Cup in 2016.

The tournament did not happen till 2021 when the United Arab Emirates hosted it. The latest T20 World Cup happened in 2022 when Australia hosted its maiden T20 World Cup. For the 2024 T20 World Cup, the West Indies and the United States of America won the right to host. The teams from the American continent will be hosting the tournament jointly.

T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in June

According to the latest reports, the dates have been announced for the 2024 T20 World Cup. The tournament is set to take place from the 4th of June to the 30th of June in 2024. It is interesting to note that the tournament will take place just eight months after the end of the 2023 ODI World Cup, which means not much time for the teams to prepare.

20 teams will take part in the event from various continents. A total of 10 potential venues were selected to host the tournament. From the USA, Dallas, Morrisville, New York, and Florida are likely to be chosen. From the West Indies, the existing venues like those in Port of Spain, Kingston, Bridgetown, North Sound, and others will be considered.
