'Finally koyal bola baag me' - CSK fans over the moon as MS Dhoni-led side defeat MI at Chepauk for first time in 13 years

In the 49th match of the IPL 2023, two legendary teams Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings clashed at the Chepauk Stadium. MS Dhoni, the CSK captain won the toss and elected to bowl first given the dark clouds encircling the Chennai ground.

MI's two openers failed to get going as both Cameron Green (6) and Ishan Kishan (7) were dismissed in quick succession. Captain Rohit Sharma was also outfoxed by MS Dhoni as he was dismissed on a duck, leaving MI in unchartered territories.

It was the young batter Nehal Wadhera who took charge of MI's batting and brought the team out of misery with his brilliant 64 off 51. The southpaw hit 8 fours and one six during his valiant inning. Suryakumar Yadav (26) and Tristan Stubbs (20) also lent a small hand to the total.

At the end of their inning, MI posted 139/8 on the board which didn't seem much for CSK batters. Matheesha Pathirana was the pick of the bowlers for the CSK side as he took 3 wickets in 4 overs. Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande also took 2 wickets each.

In reply, CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad (30) and Devon Conway (44) started off in a fiery manner and quickly shelved a good amount of runs off the target. Ajinky Rahane (21) brought the team close to the finish line before getting LBWed by Piyush Chawla. In the end, it was Shivam Dube (26) and MS Dhoni (2) who took the team to a double victory over MI at the Chepak Stadium.

As a result of this win, CSK have moved to 2nd on the IPL 2023 points table

It is also the first time that CSK have defeated MI at the Chepauk Stadium in 13 years. CSK fans were understandably very happy with CSK's win against MI.
