New Zealand’s squad for the series against England was announced on 9th August. The Blackcaps will be playing 4 ODIs and T20Is respectively in their tour of England in August and September. The shortest format will be first played, followed by the important ODI series, which will act as a preparatory series for the two teams ahead of the big 2023 ODI World Cup in October.
The squad of New Zealand has some good names. Tom Latham will continue to lead the side in the absence of Kane Williamson. The Southpaw is also likely to keep the wickets for New Zealand, although others in the squad can do the job. The 15-member squad is well-balanced and has some good names with a big miss and the return of two players.
Trent Boult and Kyle Jamieson return to ODI squad
Trent Boult and Kyle Jamieson will be making a comeback to the side after a long time in ODIs. The left-arm pacer last played an ODI for New Zealand in September 2022. Boult has not played international matches since November 2022. The return of the 34-year-old will be crucial for the Kiwis, as he will be the strike bowler for the team in the next few months.
Likewise, Kyle Jamieson also returns to the ODI side of New Zealand. The right-arm pacer last played an ODI for his team in April 2022. With the return of the two pacers, the New Zealand attack looks good with Tim Southee, Adam Milne, and Matt Henry also in the squad. The spin attack has the likes of Rachin Ravindra and Mitchell Santner, who can also bat.
The batting looks good with some good names like Devon Conway, Finn Allen, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Will Young, and Henry Nicholls in the lineup along with the captain. The biggest miss though, is of Michael Bracewell, who is one of the best finishers in ODIs in the last few months. The Southpaw is yet to recover from the surgery, which will allow New Zealand to test other players.
Here's how the fans reacted to the news:

As expected, the lack of central contract won't prevent him from getting some gametime and then being picked in the QC squad. NZ looking threatening with Kane and Boult likely to return.

Shame on NZC to include non contracted players, though boult is talented but when they chose T20 leagues against country then you must respect his decision
