Japan and Spain go into the Round of 16 at FIFA World Cup 2022, meanwhile Germany have crashed out of Qatar.

Group F was expected to bring Germany and Spain into the Round of 16 by many but Japan had slightly different views on it. The land of the rising sun defeated both Spain and Germany to top the group and dump Germany out of the World Cup 2022 in Qatar. Let's see how the last two matches of Group F panned out.

Japan vs Spain (2-1)

Japan shocked all after they defeated Germany in their FIFA World Cup 2022 opener. Despite that win, however, many expected Spain to down the Asian team in their Group F clash. The diminutive team made everyone aware of their grit and courage yet again as they defeated Spain by 1-2 in their last group match to top Group F.

Playing on the counter, Japan scored two goals after Alvaro Morata opened the scoring for Spain in the 11th minute. Ritsu Doan and Ao Tanaka wrote their names in the folklore as they took the Japanese national team into the Round of 16.

Costa Rica vs Germany (2-4)

Germany were tasked with a hill climb after their loss to Japan in the first match. They drew their second game against Spain and their campaign became even tougher since then. Germany won theri match against Costa Rica by 2-4 but they still failed to go into the Round of 16 as Japan had a better point and Spain has a better goal difference.

Costa Rica with 3 points in 3 matches fought hard but had to make do with the last spot in Group F.
