Jamaica Tallawahs and St Lucia Kings locked horns in the Eliminator game of the ongoing CPL 2022 in Providence, Guyana. The two-time finalist (St Lucia) won the toss and elected to bowl first. Their decision started proving right as Alzarri Joseph and Matthew Forde took out the opposition opening pair inside the first five overs. Joseph trapped Brandon King for lbw while Forde did the same to Kennar Lewis.

In the ninth over, skipper Rovman Powell was trapped lbw by Jeavor Royal. At 47/3, Shamarh Brooks and Raymon Reifer stitched a partnership of 41 runs, which was vital. The former missed out on the half-century as he was caught at deep midwicket by Joseph off David Wiese. Fabian Allen bagged a silver duck and became the second victim of Wiese.

The wickets of Riefer, Imad Wasim, and Chris Green in the 17th over reduced the team to 115/8. Thanks to Mohammad Nabi's unbeaten 31 off 15 balls including four sixes, took the team to 148/8 after 20 overs.

St Lucia Kings failed to chase down the target

In reply, the Blue Brigade had a poor start as they lost three wickets inside the first seven overs. Mohammad Amir took the wicket of Johnson Charles while Imad Wasim took out Niroshan Dickwella and Roston Chase. Skipper Faf du Plessis started well with 41 off 26 balls. He couldn't play long innings as Fabian Allen cleaned him up. Kings kept losing regular wickets which is why they were never in the chase.

Alzarri Joseph scored 28 off 18 but didn't get any support from the other end. The other batters around him failed to cross the double-digit mark. In total, eight batters failed to cross the double-digit mark. St Lucia was restricted to 115 all-out, losing the game by 33 runs. For Jamaica, Nabi and Allen took three wickets each while Amir and Wasim took two each. With this win, they have now qualified for Qualifier Two and will play Guyana Amazon Warriors on September 29.
