The Rose Bowl stadium hosted match 18 of The Hundred 2022 between Southern Brave and Manchester Originals. Southern Brave skipper James Vince won the toss and elected to field first. Skipper Jos Buttler and Philip Salt opened the innings for Manchester Originals with aggressive intent.

The Originals got off to a flyer as Buttler and Salt started their attack right from the start. The duo looked like they had a plan in mind and it was evident that they were on to put on a huge total on board. At the end of the 25th ball, the Originals were forty-six for the loss of no wickets with Philip Salt leading with 32 runs off 15 balls.

Jake Lintott provided the first breakthrough for the Brave as he picked up the wicket of Philip Salt. He perished after a well-made thirty-eight off 22 balls comprising of four 4s and one 6. The wicket did not stop the skipper from continuing his onslaught as he kept going at the other end. Lintott came up again to pick up Wayne Madsen's wicket and put the Originals in trouble.

It was Andre Russell and Jos Buttler's carnage right after as the duo kept smashing sixes at will. The highlight of the innings was the last five balls that Andre Russel faced. He took the total from 164 for 3 to 188 for 3 in the last five balls comprised of two sixes and three fours. The Originals ended up aggregating 188 runs for the loss of three wickets.

James Vince and South African Quinton de Kock got off to a steady start and looked settled to win the match. Sean Abbott saved the Originals from Vince's onslaught as he deceived him with a caught and bowled. Marcus Stoinis disappointed the spectators once again as he returned for a cheap one-run. Alex Davies failed to spend more time in the middle as he followed him seven balls after.

Quinton de Kock made his way back to the dressing room after getting a start for twenty-one runs and the road started getting tough for the Brave. With Tim David, George Garton and Ross Whiteley failing to capitalize on the opportunity, it looked like the end for the Brave. They eventually lost the match by a massive 68 runs after getting bundled out for 120 runs.
