Young star Ethan Nwaneri re-wrote history following Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Brentford as he became the youngest player ever to play the Premier League.

Aged just 15 years and 181 days, Nwaneri was brought into the field in stoppage time, replacing Fabio Viera at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The record was previously held by Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott. He debuted in the Premier League for Fulham at 16 years and 30 days.

Prior to the start of the game, the Gunners’ boss mentioned that he will give opportunities to young players because of injuries to some of the first team players.

“We have the opportunities to bring young players on. We are pretty short and opportunities come when issues arise.”

Talking about the young star, Nwaneri was born in 2007 and has already made a number of appearances for Arsenal’s U-18 side. He was just 14 at that time. Besides, he has also appeared for England at the Under-19 level.

Arsenal lifted themselves back to the top of the table after registering a 3-0 win against Brentford. It will give them a world of confidence given the fact they were coming off a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester United.

William Saliba netted the first goal in the 17th minute, followed by Gabriel Jesus making it 2-0 in the 28th minute. Arsenal continued to dominate in the second half as well. Vieira then pulled off a stunning goal on his debut in the 49th minute to make it 3-0.

After the match, Jesus shed light on his dancing celebration.

The Brazilian said: “From the start we showed what we want to do in the game, create chances and score. That is what I believe we did.

“He found me for the goal and I am so happy to play with him, he is an intelligent and quality player."

“The celebration was for my guy Vinicius Jnr, it needs to stop and it was for him.”
