Manchester City trounced Southampton 4-1. Erling Haaland was at the centre of it all as he scored two goals. One of which was a bicycle kick. This resembled one of Wayne Rooney's goals for Manchester United. It was perfect synchronization in motion as Haaland executed the kick with ease and when the ball went into the goal he was received by the crowd with thunderous applause.

Southampton started well and were out to push Manchester City at the start. It was not good from Southampton on a personal front as they were staring at relegation. Haaland shut the door on Southampton when he scored an amazing goal to give Manchester City their third in the match. Halland then inflicted more misery on an already wounded Southampton by scoring another goal. At the end, it was safe to say that Southampton were battered and bruised.

Haaland is on level with Messi and Ronaldo - Pep Guardiola

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was all praise for the striker and congratulated him on having a wonderful game for the side. β€œAmazing,” Guardiola said of the finish. β€œIt is not easy to pick the ball up in the sky and put it on the grass. The first half was not our best level but he changed the game. As a top scorer we lived two incredible decades with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, but he is on that level.”

Halland has 30 goals in the Premier League this season and it is very likely that he will go past Alan Shearer and Andy Cole for the 34-goal record that they have got in the Premier League. Manchester City have got their eighth win across all competitions. The team is on their best winning run this season. Grealish and Julian Alvarez scored City’s other goals on the south coast.

β€œI would like to be in the position Arsenal are in,” Guardiola said. β€œI would love that.” Guardiola said after the game. The race for the top four in the league is really becoming more closer than ever with New Castle, Tottenham and Manchester United all winning their previous fixtures.
