James Anderson is widely recognized as the best fast bowler in the game today. He is the top wicket-taking pacer in Test cricket, and the third-best overall, with 686 wickets. For the last two decades, he has created problems for world-class batters with 32 five-wicket hauls, with his best bowling stats in a game being 11/71.

However, Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma believes former India left-arm pacer Zaheer Khan was a more fabulous bowler than Anderson. Ishant said on The Ranveer Allahbadia(Beer Biceps) youtube show that if Anderson had played most of his cricket in England, circumstances favoured quicker bowlers.

He plays in different conditions in England: Ishant Sharma

Ishant said, "Jimmy Anderson’s bowling style and method are quite different. He plays in different conditions in England. Maybe if he played in India...," Ishant was interrupted by the anchor in the middle, who smiled and said, "...maybe he wouldn't have found that kind of success."

Ishant nodded and replied saying, "Zak. He is better than Jimmy Anderson." Zaheer, who last played for India in 2014, took 311 wickets in Test cricket in 92 matches and is on level with Ishant for most wickets by an Indian pacer in the longest format."

Zaheer played 92 matches for India in the longest format, taking 311 wickets. He also played 200 One-Day Internationals for India, taking 282 wickets. His Test career finished with 11 five-wicket hauls for the former left-arm pacer.

Since they were both discussing Zaheer Khan, Ishant was questioned about the controversial 2014 Wellington Test incident in which he was unhappy with the older teammate and got into a violent argument. He said, "I had said that to myself. To this day, people don’t understand to whom I said that. I have never abused anyone who has dropped a catch. How can I say that to Zak?"

"He is literally like a guru to me. I have never even thought about saying anything like that. It was just frustration because Brendon McCullum was scoring a lot of runs. There were only three fast bowlers - me, Zak and (Mohammed) Shami. After almost every four overs, we had to bowl again, and the wicket was very flat. I was just letting out my frustration on myself."
