Team India completed a comprehensive victory over England in the first ODI played on July 12 (Tuesday). Fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged player of the match for his scintillating bowling performance as he took a total of six wickets. Chasing a paltry target of 110, The Indian openers, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, completed the chase and romped home in just 18.4 overs as The Men in Blue took a decisive 1-0 lead in a three-match series.

Meanwhile, Indian skipper M.S. Dhoni along with West Indies legend Gordon Greenidge was present at the Oval during the first ODI match. Not only that, Bollywood superstars Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor along with their elder son Taimur, also marked their presence in the same game.

Actor Kareena Kapoor also shared a snap of Greenidge and her husband Saif Ali Khan on her Instagram stories, along with other photos from the match.

Talking about the match, India won the toss and opted to have a bowl first on a wicket that had a greenish look to it. Indian pacers were right on the button as they completely derailed the English batting line-up. Batters including, Jos Buttler, Jason Roy, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Jonny Bairstow were sent back to the pavilion quickly by a spirited bowling performance from the visitors.

England skipper, Jos Buttler was the highest run-scorer for his team after amassing 30 runs. Roy, Bairstow, Stokes, Root, Liam Livingstone, and Craig Overton could not even get into double figures. For India, Bumrah was on song with the ball as he picked a total of six wickets for his team and gave away just 19 runs in 7.2 overs. Shami was also excellent for his three wickets. Young pacer Prasidh Krishna also picked up one wicket as England got bowled out for just 110 runs in 25.2 overs.

Coming to the chase, the Men in Blue cruised through in spanking fashion with skipper Rohit Sharma smashing an aggressive fifty with the bat and this gave Team India the all-important series lead of 1-0 heading into the second one-dayer. The Indian Team will look to extend its dominance during the second ODI, scheduled to be played on Thursday, July 14.
