The Australian Cricket Team was outclassed by South Africa in the 4th ODI on Friday. The home team won the game by 164 runs which was played at Centurion. The win for South Africa means that the five-match ODI series is now levelled at 2-2. The final game of the series will be played at Johannesburg on Sunday.

Australia had made a great start to the ODI series by winning the first two games. South Africa then made its comeback as it won the 3rd game by a massive 111-run margin. Both teams are using this series as a tool to get ready for the World Cup 2023 tournament.

Heinrich Klassen master class delivers huge win for South Africa

Mitchell Marsh won the toss and decided to bowl first and the decision backfired massively. Quinton De Kock began well with 45 as his opening partner Reeza Hendricks was out for 28. Rassie Van Der Dussen then took over the scoring as he hit 62 runs off 65 balls. Captain Aiden Markram was the only batter to fail as he fell for 8.

At 194/4 in the 35th over, The Australians seemed confident of restricting the home side to under 300. That’s when the whole game changed. Heinrich Klassen and David Miller added 222 runs in a mere 92 balls to take the game away from Australia.

Klassen scored his career-best 174 which came from just 83 balls. The right-hander hit 15 fours and 15 massive sixes in his knock. David Miller played the second fiddle well as he was not out on 82. Miller’s knock came off 45 balls with 6 fours and 5 sixes. Adam Zampa had a terrible outing as he was smashed for 113 runs from his 10 wicketless overs.

Chasing 417 to win, David Warner fell early for 12, while Travis Head was retired hurt for 17. Alex Carey was the only batter to put up stiff resistance as he hit 99 runs. The Australian wicket-keeper missed his 2nd ODI ton by a whisker as he was the last man out.

Tim David scored 35 off 25 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes while none of the Australian batters could get past 25. Lungi Ngidi was the pick of the bowlers with 4/51 as Kagiso Rabada picked 3 wickets. Marco Jansen and Keshav Maharaj picked a wicket each as South Africa won the game by 164 runs.
