Suryakumar Yadav has been no less than a sensation for India at the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. He has shown his class on the biggest stage with his repertoire of shots. The Mumbai batter is in unbelievable form and cricket experts and fans are in awe of his batting masterclass.
Yadav has played a massive role in helping the team finish the Super 12 stage at the number one position in the Group 2 table. In 5 matches, the 32-year-old has managed to score 225 runs at an outstanding average and strike rate of 75 and 193.97 respectively.
Besides showing his class with the bat, Yadav has also impressed one and all with his athletic abilities on the field.
It is safe to say that he is one of the fittest members in the team and, to be that, Yadav follows a very strict diet, which includes a lot of ‘first-class proteins.
To shed light on the same, Suryakumar Yadav’s dietician, Shweta Bhatia revealed the diet plan that the Mumbai cricketer is following for the past year.
“We have been working with him for the past year. He was looking at improving his overall fitness. I have helped him realign his understanding of sports nutrition,” Bhatia told PTI on Monday.
“The latest research shows how performance can not only be maintained but improved with a structured low-carb plan,” she said.
Bhatia said that the Indian cricketer intakes a lot of healthy fats and first-class proteins in a bid to improve his overall fitness. Besides, the cricketer has cut down on carbohydrates from the diet.
“We eliminated excess carbohydrates from Surya’s diet. His diet consists of healthy fats like nuts and Omega 3s.
"He consumes a lot of first-class proteins from non-vegetarian sources (eggs, meats, fish), dairy and fibrous carbohydrates from vegetables."
“Hydration guidelines that is fluid and electrolytes are provided for the intra-match/intra-training period. Activity-specific, sports performance-boosting supplements are added pre, during, and post-training. These include whey protein, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and joint health supplements to name a few. The basic plan is modified from time to time as per the match, training, and travel schedules. I plan the menu, and suggest healthy alternatives and cuisines to avoid monotony,” Bhatia added.
Yadav is currently the third-highest run-getter in the tournament. India are slated to play their next match against England in the second semi-final of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 on 10th November 2022.
