ECB give Jasprit Bumrah a "special gift" after his match-winning performance in 1st ODI vs England

Jasprit Bumrah had a memorable day in the first one-day international against England, which was held on Tuesday. He totally pressed the England batters into submission with his best figures in ODI. After super bowling figures of 19/6, Bumrah received a "SPECIAL GIFT" from the host England Cricket Board (ECB). The champion bowler was given the ball of the match with which he ripped apart the English ranks.

Taking it to the Twitter handle, he wrote, “Keeping this close". It was a special occasion for the pace bowler as he was seen at his fluent best on Tuesday. The match bowl presented to him was marked with the figures that read- ‘7.2/3/19/6’.

This showed the mastery of Bumrah, the pace spearhead, as he picked up six wickets in just over seven overs while bowling three maiden overs. Remarkably, the batters could only score 13 runs from Bumrah’s overs even as six of the 19 runs came from wide balls.

The ball was also marked with ‘The Oval’ as a timely reminder of the venue where he bagged his superlative  figures.

While Bumrah did put up a wonderful bowling spell, his performance now places him in the third spot of the best ODI figures by an Indian bowler. The pole position , however, remains with Stuart Binny who pulled an absolute stunner against Bangladesh in 2014. Bumrah’s final figures read 6/19 in 7.2 overs with 3 maiden overs.

Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged " Player of the Match " for his ground breaking performance of 19/6 in the first One Day game. The match was won by India by 10 wickets, which helped them take a 1-0 lead in the ODI series, It was also very heartening to see that all of the 10 of England's wickets were taken by the quick bowlers.

Bumrah was presented with a ‘Guard of honor’ when he returned back to the dressing room after ending the England innings. The Mumbai Indians pace bowler was asked to lead the team to the dressing room as a sporting gesture.

The fans and the members of the Oval Cricket Stadium, sitting on the path to the dressing room cheered for Bumrah with applauds as he lead the Indian team to the dressing room.

The figures helped India to bundle England out for a low total of 110 and India later went onto clinch the match, courtesy of Rohit Sharma and Shikar Dhawan's opening partnership.
