Delhi Capitals (DC) have spoiled the party of Punjab Kings (PBKS) by registering a 15-run victory against them in match 64 of IPL 2023 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala. Batting first, PBKS posted a total of 213 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. In reply, PBKS could only reach to 198 runs losing 8 wickets.

Skipper David Warner and Prithvi Shaw gave a flying start to DC as they both put up an opening partnership of 94 runs in 10.4 overs. Warner got out after scoring 46 runs off 31 balls with five fours and two sixes. After that, Shaw added another 54 runs for the second wicket with Rilee Rossouw. He got out after scoring 54 runs off 38 balls hitting seven fours and a six.

While Rossouw remained unbeaten on 82 runs off 37 balls scoring six fours and six sixes. He was accompanied by Phil Salt who added the finishing touches by scoring 26 runs off 14 balls with two fours and two sixes. They both put up a unbeaten partnership of 65 runs for the third wicket as DC go past 210 runs in their 20 overs. For PBKS, Sam Curran was the only wicket-taker as he scalped 2 wickets by conceding 36 runs in his four overs.

Liam Livingstone played a fighting knock of 94 runs

Chasing the winning total, PBKS didn’t had a great start as the skipper Shikhar Dhawan went for a golden duck in the second over of the innings by Ishant Sharma. After that, Prabhsimran Singh and Atharva Taide put up a 50-run partnership for the second wicket. Prabhsimran got out after scoring 22 off 19 with four boundaries. After his dismissal, Taide and Liam Livingstone added 78 runs for the third wicket.

Taide got retired out in the 15th over after scoring 55 runs off 42 balls five fours and two sixes. While Livingstone took the innings further with wickets at regular intervals from the other end. He got out in the final ball of the match after scoring 94 runs off 48 balls with five fours and nine sixes as PBKS fell short of 15 runs from DC’s total. For DC, Ishant Sharma and Anirch Nortje took 2-2 wickets, while Khaleed Ahmed and Axar Patel shared a wicket each.
