India’s T20 specialist bowler Deepak Chahar will take four to five more weeks to fully recover from the hamstring injury that kept him out of the Indian T20 League 2022. Chahar, who got injured during the home series against West Indies in Kolkata, looked in good shape during his morning session at the NCA.

The 29-year-old Indian seamer admitted that it will not be possible for him to get fit by the time India plays the T20 series against England in the second week of July.

"I am bowling four to five overs at one go as per my rehab program right now. My recovery is going pretty well and I think it will take another four to five weeks for me to get match fit," Chahar told PTI after his rehab session.

"It's a step-by-step process as far as recovery is concerned. I don't think I will be fit for England T20s. Once I am match fit, I will need to play some club-level games to check my fitness," Chahar said.

When asked whether he will be fit for a tour of the West Indies, Chahar replied "I can't say that but I will definitely try and get fit by then. Let's see.”

Chahar has made strong statement with his performance in his international career so far. He has the second-best bowling figures in T20 internationals which also includes a hattrick. He provides great stability to the team with his all-round ability. The seaming all-rounder was bought for a whopping INR 14 crores this season by the Chennai Franchise but couldn’t play a single match due to his injury.

India will play three ODIs and five T20Is between July 22 and August 7 in West Indies. Chahar would love to make a comeback soon to be in contention for the selection in the 20-20 World Cup team.
