Pakistan and England locked horns in the fifth game of the seven-match T20I series in Lahore. Both teams entered the game with the series leveled 2-2. The visitors won the toss and elected to field first. English bowlers bowled well and got the reward in the third over of the innings. Mark Wood bowled a 150kmph short ball to Babar Azam (9) which resulted in the latter's wicket.

In the last over of the powerplay, Shan Masood (7) managed to get caught on a yorker delivery which is rare. He was caught at gully by Wood off David Willey. Haider Ali's poor form in the series continued as he was caught and bowled by Wood. Iftikhar Ahmed (15) got some start but couldn't play a long inning as he became the second victim of Willey.

While Mohammad Rizwan (63) was holding one end, the others were failing to apply themselves. Debutant Aamer Jamal (10) scored more than a lot of batters. Eight batters failed to cross the double-digit mark and the Green Brigade were all-out for 145 in 19 overs.

In reply, the Red Brigade had a poor start as Alex Hales (1) fell cheaply to Mohammad Nawaz in the first over. Phil Salt (3) and Ben Duckett (10) also failed to make significant contributions. The former was caught at square leg by substitute fielder Khushdil Shah off Haris Rauf. On the other hand, Duckett was caught at third man trying to slash a wide delivery from Mohammad Wasim.

Dawid Malan (36) scored steadily but was trapped lbw by Iftikhar Ahmed. Harry Brook (4), who has been fond of Pakistan bowling in the series, was trapped lbw by Shadab Khan. Skipper Moeen Ali scored an unbeaten 51 but failed to take the team over the line. His side needed 15 runs off the last over bowled by debutant Aamer Jamal. During the over, Ali could hit only one six and refused a few singles although David Willey can swing the bat. The Three Lions lost the game by six runs. Aamer Jamal was the hero for Pakistan in his first international game.
