Ever since Babar Azam started rising in stature, comparisons between him and Virat Kohli started surfacing on the internet, with people putting forth their claims to include the batter to the fabulous-four list. With 74 centuries to his name, Kohli stands at the top of the list of modern-era batters with the most tons to their name

 Commenting on the same, former captain from Pakistan Misbah-ul-Haq said that the two cannot be compared at the moment. To add more, the Indian superstar is 26 centuries away from breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time record of 100 international centuries across all formats and just 3 centuries away from matching the former Indian great’s record of 49 centuries in the ODI format. 

Babar, the captain of the Pakistan team, on the other hand, boasts 28 centuries across all formats and given that the batter still has a lot of cricket left him, one could predict that he might get closer to breaking Kohli’s record in the future, although fans claim that it is highly unlikely. 

Virat Kohli has played more cricket: Misbah-ul-Haq

Misbah claimed that the duo cannot be compared as the Pakistani star is just starting his international cricket whereas Kohli is an experienced and seasoned player. Further, the former Pakistani batter said that there is no one at present who could come closer to Kohli, adding that the batter has been at his best for so long. 

“There shouldn't be a comparison between the two. Kohli has played a lot of cricket, Babar is just starting. When Babar will play the same amount of cricket, then you can make a comparison. Kohli has played more cricket, and no one can match him at the moment,” Misbah was quoted as saying to paktv.tv.

“Yes, Babar is a class player and he might achieve the same things as Kohli in the future, but at the moment, comparison between the two doesn't make sense because it's just a start for Babar,” he added. While Babar has a decent chance of matching Kohli’s record, it remains to be seen if the Pakistani batter can be consistent in the coming days.
