The Pakistan cricket board is facing a lot of flak for making flat pitches for the home series. Earlier they lost 3-0 to England at home who had travelled to the country after 17 years.
Currently, they are playing against New Zealand and facing the same criticism over batting-friendly pitches. The first match with Kiwis was drawn due to the batter prevailing over the bowlers and it seems like the second one is going through the same route.
Former Kiwi player Simon Doull who was commentating on the game has lashed out at the pitch and said, “Where do these directives come from? Do they come from Babar Azam? Does he want to play on these roads to improve his own stats?”
Keep your noses out of it- Simon Doull
“Let the ground staff do their job properly. The people above, the hierarchy, have just got to leave their noses out of it. It offers nothing. There is no grass on it. There is no seam movement, and there is no carry. You are picking a guy like Mir Hamza, who has a terrific first-class record. You pick guys who perform well at that level, but they come and bowl on this road. You can’t expect them to do the same job that they’re doing at the first-class level if you’re going to produce these types of surfaces, “ iterated Doull while speaking on the Pitch Side Show.
Currently, Pakistan are 0/2 in their second innings and at the end of Day 4. The match was heading towards a draw as Pakistan were still batting in their first inning at the start of Day 4. Tim Southee however made sure to get the game towards a result as he declared the Kiwi innings at 277/5.
Pakistan now need 319 runs in 90.1 overs on the last day of the Test match. A draw in this Test will bring even more criticism for the Pakistan pitches.
